While the day after Thanksgiving may be the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season, women across the country told us in a recent Women & Co./Real Simple survey that they're shopping early this year, with 41% starting to cross items off their holiday gift lists before Thanksgiving.  Even more surprising - a significant percentage (22%) don't even have a shopping "season" - they shop year-round for holiday gifts!

If you haven't started your holiday shopping yet, don't worry - survey respondents offered plenty of ways to simplify their gift-giving, from developing wish list spreadsheets to hosting grab bags and Yankee Swaps to cut down on the number of gifts exchanged.  (Real Simple editors offer some of their favorite ways to simplify at www.RealSimple.com/holidays.) Over half of respondents are also trying to trim costs this year by exchanging handmade gifts, like baked goods, handmade accessories, or holiday decorations; and 93% have some sort of holiday budget to help them spend wisely during the holiday rush.

For more from the 2012 Women & Co./Real Simple Holiday Spending Report, check out the stats on how women will be spending this year in the infographic below, then tell us - are these numbers in line with your holiday budgeting plans?
